Round Scotland Trip
This is a unique opportunity to circumnavigate Scotland and explore some of the untouched bays, anchorages, islands and sights that this country has to offer. The trip will be broken down into 3 sections with time to explore at each stopping point.
- Leg 1 – Rhu to Mallaig
Leg 1 of the voyage sees us depart the familiar sailing grounds of the Clyde before heading SW and rounding the Mull of Kintyre. From there, the trip can either take you up the Sound of Jura towards Craobh Haven and the Sound of Luing, exploring the numerous small islands, bays and anchorages on the way. The later part of this leg will see you enter the Firth of Lorn, Sound of Mull before round Ardnamurchan Point and turning NE in search of Mallaig.
- Leg 2 – Mallaig to Kirkwall
With a possible Crew change in Mallaig and the boat restocked with supplies, Leg 2 starts with a short sail out past the small isles of Egg, Muck and Rum before heading north to join the Minch and then onto Cape Wrath. This is the last major landmark on the West Coast. The next stop is the Pentland Firth and onto Kirkwall. A trip to Orkney wouldnt be complete without a sail past ‘Old Man Of Hoy.
- Leg 3 – Kirkwall to Rhu (via Caledonian Canal)
Leg 3 starts with a trip down the East Coast, sailing past John O’Groats, Wick, and into the Moray Firth before heading to Inverness. At Inverness we enter the Caledonian Canal and then head through Loch Ness and Loch Lochy before descending down Neptunes staircase to Corpach (Fort William) and Loch Linnhe and then South via the Crinan Canal to the familiar grounds of the Clyde.
This is one of the best opportunities available in Scotland to really put your navigation, passage passage planning, IRPCS, offshore sailing and skippering to the test. One of our experienced Instructors will be on board for the duration to for advice, training and support.
