Joining Instructions - RYA VHF Radio

Pre-Reading - As part of the new format course, you are required to do approximately 3 hours of study before the course. Please click here for the pre-reading information. You will either get your copy of the VHF handbook posted to you or a copy of the pre-reading pages emailed to you.
Assessment - The exam, which consists of a written paper and a short practical exam, will follow straight after the course. You will need to pay for your exam in advance through the RYA website and bring with you the personalised application form which will be emailed to you after making your payment. If your exam has been booked and paid for by your employer, we will ask you to fill out an exam application form on the day.
Certificate - You will be issued the RYA VHF Radio Certificate on successful completion of the course.
Equipment - You will be sent a copy of the RYA VHF Radio Course pack. A notebook & pen will be provided on the day. Please ensure you bring a passport-sized photo with you on the day.
Food - Tea, coffee and snacks are included, but meals are not. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch, or there is a shop nearby with takeaway rolls etc. Cafe Rhu in the Marina is open Wednesday - Sunday.
