Joining Instructions - RYA Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore Shorebased

Certificates

  • You will be issued the RYA Yachtmaster Coastal/Offshore Shorebased Certificate on successful completion of the course.

Assessment

  • There are three specific assessments which need to be completed: chartwork, IRPCS & Passage Making.

  • Some self-study in the evenings will be required to complete the course and assessments. A course plan will be given out on day 1 to allow you to follow the progress of the course.

Pre-Course Work

  • Due to the packed course programme, there is very little opportunity to teach a subject from fresh so it is in your interests to study a few subjects prior to the course, in particular IRPCS, Chartwork & Meteorology

Equipment

  • You will be given the RYA Yachtmaster Theory course pack on your arrival, as well as a notepad and pen.

Accommodation

  • Accommodation is not provided, but there are several hotels and B&Bs in the near vicinity

Food

  • Tea, coffee and snacks are included, but meals are not. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch, or there is a shop nearby with takeaway rolls etc. Cafe Rhu in the Marina is open Wednesday - Sunday.
