STCW Medical First Aid

The aim of the training is to give all persons intending to go to sea a basic knowledge of the immediate action to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency aboard ship.

The training is intended to meet the requirements set out in Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code for training in elementary first aid and unit A11 of the maritime national occupation standards.

    • Basic anatomy and physiology

    • Primary assessment

    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    • Wound care and bleeding control

    • Burns and scalds

    • Fractures and dislocations

    • Shock and unconsciousness

    • Medical emergencies

    • Use of medical equipment and supplies

    • Communication with medical professionals

    Notepad and pen

    Use of our training mannequins and equipment

    Tea, coffee & biscuits

    • Minimum age 16

    • Participants must be physically able to complete all practical elements of the course and are required to complete a medical self-declaration form.

    • A valid, government-issued photo ID must be presented on the day of the course. Acceptable forms include a current passport, driving licence, or discharge book.

    • STCW Elementary First Aid (Recommended)
